RIDE THE THIN BLUE LINE

An Educational Memorial

AT A GLANCE

The Ride The Thin Blue Line (RTTBL)  Memorial will honor Iowa law enforcement personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the citizens of Iowa. This stunning illuminated memorial is unique from other memorials as this memorial will pay tribute to and honor all first responders. Although the blue line recognizes law enforcement, the memorial will also recognize firefighters, EMS, dispatchers, canines and equines. The RTTBL project is slated to have three phases that will serve to honor our fallen and educate our communities and visitors about the selfless acts of Iowa law enforcement and first responders on a daily basis.

PHASE ONE

The first phase, a memorial  bike path, will be located adjacent to the very popular 72-mile Raccoon River Valley Bike Trail. The Raccoon Trail annually hosts thousands of riders throughout the year. The trail transects a 40-acre county-owned parcel that will also serve as the site of the new Sheriff Headquarters and Dallas County Jail.

PHASE TWO

Phase two, an outdoor viewing area, will be located next to the bike path and will serve as a gathering hub for friends, family members and the community to reflect upon the ultimate sacrifice in the call of duty.

PHASE THREE

Phase three will be an educational center adjacent to the bike path and outdoor viewing area that will provide visitors with impactful information and allow schools and the general public to gain a deeper understanding of our law enforcement and first responder personnel and their roles in our communities. It will also provide a remembrance area where touching tributes to those that made the ultimate sacrifice are viewable.
